About the course

The Advanced Certificate Course in ‘Ayurvedic Nutrition and Lifestyle ’is a course designed to bestow academic and Practical knowledge of concepts of Nutrition, Dietetics and lifestyle in Ayurveda. This course imparts the knowledge about Health care at primary level through kitchen spices and local herbs along with hands on training for various Ayurvedic methods for cooking of different recipes mentioned in Traditional Ayurveda texts. We know, both, health and disease originate from diet. Diet is the first line of defense against the diseases and not the medicine. Infact diet is the best medicine because we become what we eat. It is a course designed for those people who are interested in gaining knowledge about the Ayurvedic concepts of diet and nutrition in their daily routine. You will get to know how to identify your Prakriti (Body type), Agni (Digestive Fire) etc. “Kitchen is the first Medical Store” . In Indian kitchen, many spices are used for cooking but these spices are widely used in Ayurveda for managing many minor and common health problems. Similarly, many medicinal plants are available in our surrounding environment which can be used for management of common health problems. Knowledge of such this will help us to reduce hospital visits and consequently give health benefits. It will also aware the public about the myths and facts related to food habits and junk foods. There are so many health hazards of fast food and incorrect cooking methods. These concepts of diet will provide health benefits against the lifestyle disorders of the current era like Diabetes mellitus, High blood pressure, Obesity etc. This course is for those who are healthcare professionals, dietitians, nutrition experts, hotel chef, managing hospital kitchens, running healthy restaurants, housewives and for the health conscious people who are interested in living the Ayurveda way.

Prerequisites

  • One must understand the basic terminology of Ayurved like, panchamahabhutas(five elements), Doshas(vata,pitta,kapha). 
  • If someone doesn’t know the basic terminology, then Foundation course is recommended.

Course Scope

This course will help the candidates to learn about the dietary guidelines, diet, its nutritive value and effects on the body, purely in Ayurveda way. The candidate will become confident in assessing different types of food for its merits and demerits through Ayurvedic principles. It will also train the candidates to learn the proper methods of cooking. The proper cooking ensures that the one who consumes that food will get all the health benefits associated with the food.
